Cooking with a Wood Burning Oven

When my husband first brought up the idea of getting a wood burning oven, I had no idea what he was talking about. We were just starting to design our backyard, and it was something he wanted to add. I said, “Sure, why not?” And so, he ordered it.

I guess I thought it was going to already be assembled and ready to go when it came in. Boy was I wrong! This huge crate was delivered to the house and stored in the garage. Then one day, my husband opened it up, and laid it all out on the grass. I just stood there stunned. There were pieces all over, and it just looked like a big mess. I was having a hard time seeing his vision about how it was all going to turn out. But I should have known to trust that I would end up loving how beautiful it all turned out!

Fast forward a couple years, and now I know that a wood burning, or “pizza” oven, as most people call it, isn’t only for pizza. As a matter of fact, we have now been to two different wood burning oven cooking classes. We wanted to learn more about how to use our oven for a variety of dishes. We took one three day class in California, and this year we spent a week in Italy for another amazing class. The oven has shown us a whole new way to cook together, with family, and even with our friends.

Stay tuned for more information about the fun we have cooking with our wood burning oven. Cheers!
