True medieval tavern!
I had read the review of this restaurant on TripAdvisor so I knew it was where we should have dinner while in Rothenburg. But we weren’t able to make reservations since they weren’t open when we finally found it. So, we walked around town for a while, and did some shopping.
That night we knew we wanted to do the wonderful Night Watchman tour, and he happened to mention how wonderful this restaurant was. So we thought we would head down there immediately after the tour and see if we could get in. And luck was on our side, because they sat us right away.
Needless to say, it was definitely worth the wait to eat a little later than earlier. They sat us inside, and not long after we ordered our drinks they asked if it would be okay to sit another couple at our table. We always love meeting new people, so of course we said yes.
The food lived up to all the reviews I read about. I had the AMAZING skewers which I can’t recommend enough! Not only is the presentation wonderful, but they were cooked to perfection and had the best flavor! My husband had the beef roll, and it was delicious too!
I definitely recommend making a reservation for Zur Holl if you are in Rottenburg, Germany. Everything about our meal – the wine, food, and service was excellent! Just make sure to have CASH since they don’t accept credit cards!
